Evanston jewelry store robbed, worker tied up

A thief robbed a north suburban jewelry store and tied up an employee. It happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning at 1613 Sherman Ave. in Evanston.

The victim said the robber had a handgun and used flexible plastic ties to bind the worker's hands. He removed jewelry from display cases and ran away.

There is no word on the value of the merchandise stolen.
