Wojciech Seweryn created the Katyn Massacre Monument at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles. It commemorates the 1940 killing in the Katyn forest of 22,000 Polish leaders by the Soviet secret police.
Seweryn and 95 others were killed last year in a plane crash in the same place.They were on their way to the Katyn forest for a ceremony on the 70th anniversary of the mass killings.
