A Mundelein jewelry store that became known for its New Year's snow fall contest was robbed Tuesday morning.

The owner of PK Bennett Jewelers in Mundelein says the store was broken into at about 7 a.m. Tuesday morning and it's unclear how much was taken.

The store wasn't open at the time of the burglary.

Police are reviewing security footage as part of its investigation into the robbery.

The suburban jewelry store was recently in the news for a snow ball holiday promotion. He said if it snowed three or more inches on New Year's Day, customers would get their money back.
