Veterans receive special blessing in Mass

DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) -- Archbishop Blase Cupich marked Memorial Day with a Mass in northwest suburban Des Plaines.

He asked all veterans to come forward to receive a special blessing, followed by the playing of "Taps."

The Mass at All Saints Cemetery was one of 37 held at Catholic cemeteries across the Chicago area.

The event was part of the "Serving God and Country" Memorial Day masses saluting service members.
