CHICAGO (WLS) -- Gov. Bruce Rauner joined Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Sen. Dick Durbin for the grand opening of a new community center in Garfield Park.

The Breakthrough Family Plex includes a daycare center, health clinic and library. Emanuel said it will give kids a safe place and the promise of a better future.

Rauner joked about being one of the only republicans in the room, but said he wanted to be a partner with the community.

Later he spoke about the decision to rescind seven executive orders issued by former Gov. Pat Quinn, including one that required state vendors to pay employees $10 an hour.

"The minimum wage, I support increasing it," Rauner said. "We will increase it as part of a comprehensive reform that also helps small businesses and helps grow our economy."

A spokesperson says Rauner will look at each of Quinn's orders and decide whether to reinstate any of them.
