VIDEO: Storms dump hail on Chicago, suburbs
Strong thunderstorms dumped large hail on several parts of the Chicago area including Sugar Grove, Aurora, Big Rock and Naperville.

It was a wild night in parts of the Chicago area where large hail and flooding were reported as severe storms rolled through.

FAA officials said a ground stop was in effect as of 10 p.m. at O'Hare Tuesday night and at least 115 flights were canceled there. Earlier Tuesday, Midway also reported a ground stop as storms passed through the area.

Storms charged through DeKalb, where wicked winds blew over trucks and trailers also tore off part of a factory's roof.

Naperville activated its Emergency Operations Center Tuesday night as heavy rain overwhelmed sewer systems. Streets that are affected include Naper Blvd and 75th Street, Naper Blvd and Dunrobin, River Rd between Rickert and Oswego, Main Street and 6th Ave, North Ave between Huffman and Charles, North Aurora and Frontenac, Columbia Street at Porter, West St and Emerald. Drivers should avoid these areas. Residents are warned not to remove manholes covers as this has the potential to flood basements immediately.

And there was hail, lots and lots of hail. Eyewitness News viewers shared their hail images with us.

In Hinsdale, the rain blew through almost sideways at times. One poor guy got caught in the storm on his motorcycle. And further to the north, 16-inch softball players in Des Plaines kept on playing with lightning as their backdrop.
