Mom says 2 children killed in crash are watching over 3rd in hospital

CONCORD, Calif. -- The family of two little boys killed in a Concord car crash is speaking out Monday night. Their three-month-old child is still in critical condition.

A devastated mother begged for justice Monday night from UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. Her five and 10-year-old sons died in a tragic car accident in Concord over the weekend.

Luciano Reyes is fighting for his life Monday night. His family said they baptized him in the hospital as they plan funerals for his two brothers.

Mother Aida Reyes described the accident Monday night for the first time. "He blindsided me. I never saw anything," she said. "I didn't hear tires screeching, nothing. And he ran away."

Friday night on Highway 4, Reyes said she had just left a drive-in movie with her sons Lorenzo, 10, and Vincent, 5, as well as her baby.

The CHP says 35-year-old Lemuel Wilson drove across the grassy median and hit the Reyes family vehicle, throwing the two young boys from the car.

Witnesses say they saw Wilson running from the scene. He was treated at Highland Hospital and faces multiple charges including vehicular homicide.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Department told ABC7 News that Wilson posted $10,000 bail the day before the crash on charges related to terrorist threats in Pleasanton. Court records show that Wilson was also charged in the past with at least two DUI's.

"A lot speaks volumes on this man fleeing from an accident and knowing that two children lay on the ground as he saved only himself," said Reyes family friend Olga Miranda. "We're asking for no bail."

"I want justice for my children," said Reyes. "He killed my children, and they are asking for bail? Let's be realistic here. Let's be realistic -- my world ended."

The family shared photos and their grief outside the hospital and thanked those who are supporting them.

As they plan funerals for Lorenzo and Vincent, the family believes the two boys are now the guardian angels of their baby brother, still in critical condition.

"They were my world," Reyes cried.
