Poll: Hillary Clinton widens lead over Donald Trump in presidential race

Democrat Hillary Clinton is taking a larger lead against her Republican rival Donald Trump according to a new poll with just 92 days until Election Day.

Clinton has advanced among college-educated white women, a critical group in this election and she holds a wide lead among women overall. She's also now supported by 86 percent of Bernie Sanders supporters.

Meanwhile, Trump's numbers have not budged since the Republican Convention.

In the ABC News/Washington Post released Sunday, 42 percent of registered voters want Trump as president, while 50 percent would choose Clinton.

Of those polled, 70 percent said they'd have anxiety over a Trump presidency, but 66 percent poll said they think Clinton bends the rules too easily.

Trump defended himself Saturday night.

"Remember ISIS is looking folks," Trump said. "They dream of Hillary Clinton. They look at her and they say, this can't be happening to us, how great is this."

What could be working in Clinton's favor is President Barack Obama's popularity. According to the Washington Post, Obama's current approval rating is 55 percent among adults.

Meantime, the poll says Trump's image is in question, with 67 percent saying he lacks the personality and temperament to serve effectively as president.
