CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man reported missing last week after going to a Lincoln Park grocery store was found dead in the Chicago River less than half a mile away Tuesday.

The grief-stricken family of Esteban Uriostigue console one another just hours after they confirm the 22-year-old was found dead nearly a week after he went missing.

The FBI is assisting Chicago police in the search for a missing man who was last seen at a Jewel-Osco in Lincoln Park.

Relatives said Uriostigue's body was found Tuesday morning around 8:45 a.m. in the river near the 1500-Block of West Webster Avenue, just steps from the Jewel-Osco parking lot on Clybourn where he was last seen alive.

Uriostigue's family said he was identified on scene after his father found him near his belongings and what he was wearing when he disappeared.

Police said Uriostigue, who lives in Lawndale, told friends he was leaving the Jewel-Osco around 9 p.m.

Relatives said Uriostigue used to work at the Jewel near Clybourn and Fullerton, and had friends there, but it's unclear why he might have gone there.

Since then there's been an exhaustive search for the Lawndale neighborhood resident.

The FBI assisted with the missing person investigation at the Chicago Police Department's request, an FBI spokeswoman said. She did not provide additional details about the case.

While this family struggles with the pain of their loss, Uriostigue's sister prays the outcome for relatives of others missing will be different.
