Drill tests first responders in mock train crash

PORTER, Ind. (WLS) -- A drill Saturday tested how well first responders in northwest Indiana would handle a train crash.

The mock disaster involved a South Shore train and a diesel locomotive.

First responders from the town of Porter and the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District had to deal with multiple injuries, downed electrical wires and a hazardous materials spill.
