GENEVA, Ill. (WLS) -- Stacey Schnaitman of Geneva, Ill., swallowed her pride and went online to ask people to give her money so she could afford to divorce her husband.
This seemingly unusual approach, though, is becoming more common, as there are fewer qualified attorney to do pro bono work. If you're struggling to get by, but not impoverished, there are fewer financial resources.
But a group called Funded Justice, launched in December, is a website that uses online fundraising principals that are similar to GoFundMe and Kickstarter. The site focuses only on people trying to raise money for legal fees.
