CHICAGO (WLS) -- Alzheimer's Disease afflicts more than 5 million Americans, and more than 200,000 people in Illinois. That number is expected to rise over the next decade. But you can help find a cure, by taking part in the Walk to End Alzheimer's on Sunday, September 27th, 2015 at Montrose Harbor in Chicago, Illinois. Walk to End Alzheimer's participants will learn about Alzheimer's disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services. Walk participants also honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony. In 2014, the Walk to End Alzheimer's raised over $764,000, but organizers hope to beat that number in 2015.
ABC7 is a proud sponsor of the event. Eyewitness News anchor Judy Hsu is the emcee for the walk. She joined President & CEO of the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Illinois, Erna Colborn, live from Montrose Harbor to talk about the importance of awareness and fighting Alzheimer's.
