CHICAGO (WLS) -- Students are making a splash at Hirsch Metropolitan High School, celebrating the grand reopening of their swimming pool which sat empty for the past 10 years.
The pool was in need of significant repairs and once they were fixed the Chicago park District offered up its lifeguards.
"We're both working together for what's best for our students to make sure that our students are safe and happy and have great experiences here in Chicago," said Larry Varn, Hirsch principal.
The community is also invited to use the pool during on weekdays from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays.
