Police continue search for car involved in Belmont Heights hit-and-run

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are asking for the public's help to find the vehicle and driver involved in a hit-and-run crash on Chicago's Northwest Side that left a 55-year-old woman badly hurt.

Authorities released photos of the type of car they are looking for on Tuesday: a Blue Green Pearl Metallic 2000 or 2001 Toyota Camry. Police said the headlight and front passenger-side door are likely damaged. They found parts from the vehicle at the scene.

The victim was crossing the street in the 3400-block of North Harlem Avenue in Chicago's Belmont Heights neighborhood just before 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 24.

Police said the driver took off after the woman was struck. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
