CHICAGO (WLS) -- Former Congressman Joe Walsh is set to return to his radio show after management repeatedly cut him off while he was discussing the use of racial slurs Thursday.

"I'm told that Redskins is every bit as racist as the N-word, so there can be no Washington Redskins," Walsh said. "Well, to me, that's really hypocritical. I don't get it. If Redskins is like the N-word, then why do you get to say Redskins, but you don't say the N-word?"

A host on AM-560, Walsh says Thursday's discussion was to make a point about the Washington Redskins name controversy.

"It is layers of ignorance upon ignorance," said 89-WLS talk show host Dan Proft. "One word has an association 300 years old with brutality and subjugation of an entire race of people, and another is about a sports team. These are apples and oranges. (Walsh) should know better."

Jeff Reisman, the general manager for AM-560 says the station has a policy of not using certain words on the air that are inflammatory and offensive, even in the context of discussion of why those words are offensive.
