The daughter of a K-Mart employee is taking on the retailer over its decision to start holiday shopping on Thanksgiving.

Jillian Fisher launched an online petition asking the retailer to give thousands of workers the day off.

K-Mart announced stores will stay open for 42 straight hours, from 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving, to midnight on Black Friday.

The petition asks stores to rely on employees who volunteer to work the holiday.

K-Mart says it is aware of her schedule and her manager accommodated her preferred shift on Thanksgiving.
