Lincolnshire student brought gun to school, police said

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. (WLS) -- A north suburban high school student was arrested this morning for bringing an unloaded gun to school.

The 17-year-old was found with the gun just after 10 a.m. Friday at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire. Police say there's no evidence he intended to use it at the school.

Police said the campus was safe and secure and classes carried on as normal; a lockdown was not issued because police say they knew who had the gun.

The teen will be charged as a juvenile.
