Rev. Jackson updates: Chicago says final goodbye to civil rights icon at Rainbow PUSH HQ

OEMC announced street closures ahead of Thursday and Friday's visitation.

Street closures begin at 5:30 a.m. until 11:15 p.m. and affect north and southbound Lanes of South Drexel Boulevard between East Hyde Park Boulevard (51st Street) and East 49th Street.

East 50th Street between South Drexel Avenue and South Ellis Avenue will also be closed

Thursday morning, cars parked on the streets were being relocated to Washington Park.

Attendees will go through magnetometer screening before entering.

Rev. Jackson is scheduled to lie in repose Thursday and Friday at Rainbow PUSH HQ on Chicago's South Side to mark the start of his celebration of life.

Rainbow PUSH is located at 930 E. 50th St. in Kenwood.

The hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The CTA said in a message on social media it will be broadcasting a tribute to Rev. Jackson for several weeks on hundreds of digital screens across the system.

"It is fitting to drape our system -- which, at its core, is rooted in fair access and opportunity for all -- in the image and messaging of the man who we were so lucky to have as our own in this great city," the message said.

The Jackson family and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition released a schedule of services that includes Chicago and South Carolina.

Rolling street closures on Friday will take place between 111th Street and 115th Street., Chicago OEMC said.
