Storms leave damage behind in Chicago area with more possible overnight, Tuesday

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A line of strong storms moved through the Chicago area Monday morning.

The Storm Prediction Center has the area under a Level 2 slight risk for severe storms.

The storms triggered a series of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings that have since expired.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of the area has also expired.

Chopper 7 was over Matteson earlier Monday night, where a building's roof was damaged.

ABC7 Accuweather meteorologist Tracy Butler said showers and clouds are expected to linger in the afternoon and evening hours.

A departure delay is in effect at O'Hare airport, with delays averaging 30 minutes and decreasing.

There are over 70 cancellations at O'Hare.

More rain and storms could move into the area overnight and on Tuesday morning.
