Protect your Pets from Lyme disease
Summer is almost here, and that means lots of time outdoors with your family and pets.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Summer is almost here, and that means lots of time outdoors with your family and pets. But as the temperatures rise, so does the increase in Lyme disease. In 2015, the Centers for Disease Control revised estimates for annual Lyme disease infections to over 300,000 cases a year. Cases were reported in all 50 states.

Lyme disease can be especially dangerous for children and pets, who spend play-time outdoors. Veterinarian Dr. Natalie Marks and Pediatrician Dr. Patricia DeLaMora are teaming up to help parents and pet owners stay vigilant about ticks and the spread of Lyme disease. Their StopLyme campaign brings together human and veterinary medicine to double-team ticks and protect all of our family members, including our furry ones. Dr. Marks joined ABC 7 Eyewitness News to talk about Lyme disease and how it spreads.
