NEW YORK -- Another brawl in the middle of a crowded subway has been caught on cell phone camera, and the latest incident was apparently over the placement of a woman's hand on a pole.
The fight happened aboard a train near the East 59th Street station Saturday.
Tensions flaring on a packed subway train can happen anywhere, but things escalated into a fight that put dozens of people in danger. It was broken up quickly, but things could have easily gotten out of hand.
The incident began with a hand too close to someone's face, which set off a venomous verbal exchange between a woman and a couple.
Moments later, heated words escalated into shoving and hitting before others stepped in to prevent the brawl from boiling over.
It's a occurrence riders say is all too common. And with millions relying on mass transit to commute daily, some argue more needs to be done to keep everyone safe.
