DALLAS -- A shooting has been reported and videotaped in the baggage claim area of Dallas' Love Field airport.
At least one person was transported to the hospital after an incident at Love Field, the Dallas Fire Department said.
ABC affiliate WFAA reports the incident began when a man was attacking a woman in a vehicle, then charged at officers who responded to the attack, and at least one officer fired a weapon several times.
Video posted on an Instagram account early Friday afternoon shows people scattering outside a baggage claim door as an officer in a yellow vest trains a gun toward a baggage claim entrance. At least eight gunshots can be heard as a man's voice repeatedly yells "stand down!" A woman can be heard screaming.
Police say one Dallas officer responded to a domestic disturbance around noon outside the baggage claim area, said Assistant Dallas Chief of Police Randall Blankenbaker. The suspect was throwing large rocks at the car of a woman believed to be the mother of his children, Blankenbaker.
The officer came to the aide of the woman and was rushed by the suspect who was holding large rocks, Blankenbaker said. The suspect came after the officer at least twice with those rocks before the cop shot him a "number of times," Blankenbaker said.
Police say the suspect was struck and had to be transported to a local hospital. Police say they don't know yet what his condition is, but he was conscious when he was taken to the hospital. He has not yet been identified.
Traveler Lucinda Fonseca told WFAA-TV that she and her husband were coming out of the baggage claim area when they saw police approaching the man throwing rocks and one of the officers drew a gun.
"The man was yelling at the cops, basically saying 'shoot me shoot me, I dare you,' something to that effect," Fonseca said.
She heard gunfire while trying to reach a vehicle picking up the couple.
"I crouched down on the ground," she said. "I didn't know where the bullets were going."
