Bonnie Liltz, convicted of killing disabled daughter, ordered to remain hospitalized

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. (WLS) -- A judge has ordered the Schaumburg woman convicted last week of killing her disabled daughter to remain hospitalized rather than return to jail.

Bonnie Liltz, 56, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to four years in prison after she admitted to killing her profoundly disabled daughter, Courtney, a year ago in a failed murder suicide attempt.

Liltz said she thought her own death from terminal cancer was imminent and feared no one would be able to care for her daughter.

Last week, Liltz made an emotional plea at her sentencing hearing, where she asked the judge not to send her to prison for taking the life of her daughter.

Prosecutors asked for probation, but the judge sent her to prison.

She was transferred to Stroger hospital Sunday night while suffering from complications from her cancer.

The judge ordered her to be kept at the hospital while her attorney works on an appeal of her sentence.
