CHICAGO (WLS) -- The new lawyer representing the woman accusing Patrick Kane of sexual assault said Sunday his client will cooperate with prosecutors looking into an alleged evidence bag hoax.
Attorney Roland M. Cercone released a letter to the Buffalo News denying prosecutors' recent suggestions that the accuser would not answer questions about the purported hoax.
Last Wednesday, the accuser's former attorney presented a rape kit bag, calling it tampered evidence after it was left on the doorstep of the accuser's mother.
The next day he quit the case saying he no longer believed the story about where the evidence came from.
Investigators say there was a never an evidence bag and that their rape kits are in a box.
Kane is accused of sexual assault at his Buffalo, N.Y., home on Aug. 2. He has not been charged.
