The Chicago Park District unveils a new statue of Paul Dunbar in the park that bears his name.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Park District unveils a new statue of Paul Dunbar in the park that bears his name.

Dunbar, the son of freed slaves, was one of the first African American novelists and poets to be widely read and acclaimed.

The park in the 200 block of East 31st Street was named in Dunbar's honor in 1966.
