JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- Two south suburban men are facing animal abuse and drug charged after a cockfighting ring was uncovered.
Over the past couple of weeks, Joliet police have conducted a narcotics investigation involving a house in the 400-Block of Meeker Avenue.
Investigators saw a large number of roosters in caged, and it appeared that they were being exploited for fighting and entertainment.
On Wednesday, Rolando Rodriguez-Gasca, 39, and Fortino Rodriguez, 51, were arrested during a search warrant.
Police said they found cocaine, cash and 29 animals, including roosters, hens, chicks and a Terrier puppy.

All the animals, including some baby chicks, were safely removed, and are now receiving proper medical care.
Both now face charges related to animal abuse and drugs.
