10,000 take on Bank of America Chicago 13.1-mile race on West Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- 10,000 athletes took on the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 half-marathon on Sunday in Douglass, Garfield and Humboldt parks.

The 13-mile course started at 7 a.m. and finish in Garfield Park. It will travel through Douglass and Humboldt parks.

Tatyana McFadden won the Bank of America Chicago half marathon women's wheelchair division.

Daniel Romanchuk captured his fifth straight title in the wheelchair competition.

Daniel Ebenyo and Laura Galvan took the titles in the men's and women's professional races.

Juan Martinez claimed the top spot in the non-binary running competition.

Bank of America Chicago President Rita Sola Cook says one of the highlights of the race was the scenic West Side route.

Street Closures

No parking zones along the course will be enforced beginning at 1 a.m. on Sunday.

Street closures along the route will occur between 5:30 and 11 a.m.

As runners pass points along the route, streets will reopen to allow traffic to return to normal as quickly as possible, according to Chicago's Office of Emergency Management and Communications.

The street closures will start be in effect until 5p.m. Monday.
