73-year-old woman killed in Joliet crash involving 4 vehicles

JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- A 73-year-old driver was killed and two other people were hospitalized after a crash involving four vehicles in Joliet Tuesday.

Police said the 73-year-old was in a Subaru and driving at a high rate of speed and slammed into a minivan near Black and Essington roads at about 4:18 p.m.

The woman then hit two more cars before her Subaru rolled over, police said.

The woman was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she later died. She has been identified as Marilyn Hertko.

Two others, including a child, were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The crash closed the intersection of Black and Essington Roads Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
