Bicyclist struck, killed by Amtrak train in University Park, police say

UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A bicyclist was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in the south suburbs on Thursday, police said.

The deadly crash happened at about 7:52 a.m. at the University Parkway and Governor's Highway railroad crossing, University Park police said.

Police said the victim died at the scene.

The name and gender of the victim was not released, however, police said they were a resident of University Park.

No other information regarding the crash was released.
