Body camera video shows suburban police rescue man from river

JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- Body-worn camera video shows police in Joliet jumping into action to help a man in the Des Plaines River.

Police say they heard a man calling for help near Bicentennial Park around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police blurred the face of the man in the video.

Officers used ropes to hold onto the man until firefighters arrived.

The 25-year-old man says he slipped and fell into the water.

He was taken to the hospital to be checked out, Joliet police said.
