CHICAGO (WLS) -- A former substitute teacher with the Archdiocese of Chicago was in court on Friday, and a judge ordered him to remain in jail.
Brett Smith is charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a minor and wire fraud. He pleaded not guilty on Friday.
The charges stem from his work as a private tutor.
Smith also worked as a substitute teacher at Queen of Martyrs School in Evergreen Park. He was charged there with misdemeanor battery.
Police and the archdiocese have said Smith used several different names in the past.
