
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was shot to death while sitting in a vehicle near a South Side KFC on Friday morning, Chicago police said.
Chopper 7 was over the scene around 1:15 p.m., capturing footage of evidence markers scattered across the ground near the drive-thru and an SUV with several bullet holes in the windshield.
Police said the shooting happened in the Calumet Heights neighborhood's 1600-block of East 95th Street just before 11 a.m.
Someone approached a 44-year-old man, who was sitting inside a vehicle, took out a gun, and fired shots, police said.
The man, shot in the body multiple times, was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His identity was not immediately released.
No other injuries were reported, and the shooter fled in an unknown direction.
