Kennedy Expy. new configuration begins Tuesday

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Kennedy Expressway new configuration for outbound lanes at the Edens Junction began Tuesday.

The change is part of the Kennedy Expressway construction project.

Between Kostner and the Junction, six laned will be reduced into four lanes.

Two lanes will head to the Edens, meanwhile the other two will continue on to the Kennedy.

On Tuesday morning, construction barrels were already in place to redirect traffic.

The reconfiguration is expected to last two weeks, according to IDOT.

Starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, the following ramps will close:
-Addison Street to outbound Kennedy, anticipated to reopen in three weeks.
-Outbound Kennedy to Pulaski Road/Irving Park Road, anticipated to reopen in three weeks.
