
COOK COUNTY (WLS) -- A driver crashed after going into cardiac arrest on Wednesday morning on the Edens Expressway, officials said.
The crash happened before 6:20 a.m. on the inbound lanes of I-94 past Winnetka Road, according to Illinois State Police and IDOT.
Officials said the driver went into cardiac arrest, lost control and crashed into the wall.
The driver was taken to an area hospital, at last check officials said he was in "extremely serious condition."
Officials blocked the two left lanes of the Edens as police investigated.

The scene caused a one-hour backup for morning commuters. There was also an outbound gapers delay.
