Man charged after 4 critically injured in NW Side hit-and-run

CHICAGO (WLS) -- There was a mixed verdict Thursday for a man accused of hitting four people with an SUV on the city's Northwest Side in 2022.

A judge found Renato Salazar guilty of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving personal injuries. He was found not guilty of attempted murder, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, aggravated battery/use of a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

Salazar got into an argument with a group in the 6500-block of West Fullerton Avenue in Montclare on Sept. 10, 2022, police said.

They were seriously injured after Salazar hit them and drove away, officials previously said.

Salazar was arrested months later in 2023.

He's due back in court May 7.
