
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A person riding a scooter died after being hit by a vehicle Friday afternoon on the city's South Side.
The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. in the 3300 block of South King Drive, Chicago police said.
Investigators said a female, whose age was not yet known, was riding a scooter southbound when she was struck by a Jeep also heading south.
The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Her identity has not yet been released.

The driver remained on scene and was cited for failure to avoid the crash, CPD said.
