Child found safe after being kidnapped in stolen vehicle on South Side, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A young child was found safe after being kidnapped in a car burglary on the South Side on Friday, according to Chicago police.

A man, 30, said he left a white SUV running when two men got in and drove off in the 7300 block of S. Lafayette Avenue at about 11:21 p.m.

A 10-year-old child was sitting in the back seat when the suspects drove off.

Chicago police quickly provided a vehicle description over scanners.

The car and the child were found a couple of blocks away in the 7400 block of S. Stewart Avenue, police said.

The child was found safe and had no injuries, police said.

Nobody is in custody.
