CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago anti-violence advocate spoke with ABC7 about his close call on the city's West Side.
He was live streaming when gunfire rang out.
Shawn Childs is the executive director of the House of Hope Foundation.
Childs says he got out to see if anyone nearby needed help after shots were fired around 3:27 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of North Pulaski Road.
"It was so close to me, they could've been right next to my van," Childs said. "You could hear the bullets hitting the poles. I thought they hit my van. It was that close."
Chicago police said a 38-year-old woman was inside her car when she was shot. She's expected to be okay.
No further information was available as CPD continues to investigate.
