Surveillance video shows string of burglaries at Scottsdale shopping center

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are investigating a series of early-morning burglaries on the city's Southwest Side.

Police say the latest spree happened on Monday at a Scottsdale shopping center, where three businesses where hit within minutes.

It was just before 5 a.m. when the suspects in a silver sedan, along with at least one other person, break through the front door of Boba Heaven.

Video shows a single masked burglar run in, grab the cash register and run out, in just under ten seconds.

The other two businesses include a Wing Stop and a taco restaurant.

Boba Heaven Owner Omee Abbasi says the strip mall is a frequent target of these types of smash-and-grab criminals.

"Last time it was four but it wasn't us," Abbasi said. "Last time was literally a month or two ago. They got the Total Wireless store and Little Ceasar's instead."

Chicago police say this particular crew has been targeting the city's Southwest Side since the beginning of July.

They are usually split in two vehicles, Hyundais or Kias, and are currently linked to at least 14 burglaries across Garfield Ridge, Gage Park, Archer Heights, West Lawn and now Scottsdale.

Abbasi, who's run this business for around three years, says he never leaves cash in the register.

However, that night was the exception, after an employee closed the shop instead of him or his business partner.

Abbasi said its going to cost well over $1,000 to repair the store.
