CTA Red Line service disrupted after man dies on tracks on South Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man died after exiting a CTA Red Line train while it was in motion on the South Side Tuesday morning, Chicago police said.

CTA trains were not operating between Garfield and 95th/Dan Ryan for hours before resuming with residual delays after 8:30 a.m..

Police said a 44-year-old man was on a Red Line train at 79th Street when he forced the doors open and got off the train while it was moving.

The man made contact with the third rail and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. CPD is conducting a death investigation.
