CTA report shows crime down for 5 months in a row, ridership increase

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The CTA is promoting a positive report about ridership and crime rates.

The CTA says systemwide crime is down for the fifth straight month in a row.

On the Red Line, violent crime is down 77 percent when comparing May 2026 to May 2025. All crime on the Red Line is down about 50 percent over the same period.
