A person was critically injured in a explosion Wednesday on North Lincoln Avenue near Lincoln Square and Ravenswood, Chicago fire officials said.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A person was critically injured in a explosion Wednesday on the city's North Side, Chicago fire officials said.

The explosion happened in the 4500 block of North Lincoln Avenue near Lincoln Square and Ravenswood.

CFD officials said a person was injured at that location due to an explosion in a stove. The person was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

A male, whose age was not yet confirmed, was burned on the face and hands, police said.

No other injuries were reported.

The exact cause of the explosion was not yet known. Authorities continue to investigate.
