1 seriously injured in Far South Side fire: Chicago police

CHICAGO (WLS) -- One person was seriously injured in a fire early Tuesday morning on Chicago's Far South Side, Chicago police said.

Chicago police and fire crews responded to the 11000-block of South State Street in Roseland about 2 a.m. for a reported fire in a residential area.

Chicago fire crews found the male victim, and he was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

His injures were not known, but he was in serious condition, police said. CPD did not immediately provide any additional information on the victim.

He was displaced by the fire, CPD said.

There were no other injuries reported, and the Chicago Fire Department will be conducting an investigation into the fire's cause.
