CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police broke up a large teen gathering in the Back of the Yards neighborhood late Tuesday night.
The large crowd had gathered in the area of 54th Street and Peoria Avenue. Hours earlier, a person was shot and killed in the same area.
Video shows police trying to clear the huge crowd that stretched down 54th Street from Peoria Avenue to Halsted Street.
Shoes were left behind on the street and some people were seen taken away in handcuffs. ABC7 has been told the crowd was a mix of adults and teens.
A few hours before the gathering, police said a 26-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, police said.
The victim has been identified to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office Daryle Hall said.
It is not clear if the deadly shooting and the gathering are related.
