Chicago police investigating attempted kidnapping of child on North Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A child was nearly abducted in broad daylight on Chicago's North Side.

Chicago police have released photos of the suspect wanted in the crime.

Police say a man tried to lure a minor in the Park West neighborhood, near Wrightwood and North Clark Street, around 9:47 a.m. Saturday.

The suspect was wearing a white baseball cap, sunglasses, buttoned-down blue-checkered shirt, tan shorts, and black gym shoes with white soles, police said.

Witnesses stepped in and the suspect ran off, CPD said.

Police urged neighbors to stay alert and report anything suspicious.
