Chicago police issue alert after attempted child luring in Englewood

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police have issued an alert about an attempted child luring in Englewood Wednesday.

Police said the incident took place between 7:40 and 7:55 p.m. between the 7200-block and 7300-block of South May Street.

Police said a girl was walking down the street when police said a man in a silver Chevy Malibu pulled up and offered to smoke with her in his car.

The car has a broken passenger headlight.

The girl got away by walking to a friend's house nearby.

Police said the man circled the block several times.
