
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago police officer was taken to a nearby hospital after an attempted traffic stop on Chicago's South Side Wednesday, CPD said.
Officers driving in a marked squad car saw a gray sedan commit a traffic violation in the 5700-block of South State Street just before 8:30 p.m., CPD said.
When officers approached the vehicle, it drove north, hitting an officer on the foot, police said.
The officer was taken to Insight Hospital & Medical Center in fair condition.
The suspect vehicle later rear-ended another in the 2600-block of South State Street, police said.

The driver was taken into custody, and taken to a hospital in good condition.
The passenger in the suspect vehicle, was taken into custody, and taken to a nearby hospital in good condition.
The woman driving the car that was hit was taken to Insight in fair condition.
The two vehicles at the second scene sustained major damage.
One was upside-down.
Citations and charges are pending. Area One detectives are investigating.
