1 shot, killed in Greater Grand Crossing, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 26-year-old man shot and killed outside a restaurant in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood Sunday night, Chicago police said.

The shooting took place from 11:36 p.m. in the 100-block of East 71st Street.

Police said he had just stepped out when he saw a man nearby who opened fire.

The victim was shot in the chest and tried to run, but collapsed nearby, police said.

Area One detectives are investigating the shooting.
