2 shot in South Shore, Chicago police say suspect in custody

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two people were shot on the city's South Side on Sunday, Chicago police said.

The shooting happened in the 5400-block of S. South Shore Drive at about 12:45 a.m.

Police said the victims were outside when multiple suspects started to shoot in their direction.

A 37-year-old man was shot multiple times in the body. He was taken to an area hospital and is expected to be OK.

The second victim, a 37-year-old man, was shot in the right ankle and right thigh. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

A weapon was recovered at the scene.

Police said a suspect was taken into custody; charges are pending.
