Hit-and-run driver kills man on South Side: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A hit-and-run driver killed a man on the city's South Side late Thursday night, Chicago police said.

Police said the crash happened near West 87th Street and South Ashland Avenue in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood just after 11 p.m.

A 36-year-old man was standing outside when the driver of a beige-colored sedan hit him, police said.

The victim was transported in critical condition to Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately released.

The driver fled the scene, continuing eastbound on 87th Street, police said.

This crash marks the second deadly hit-and-run in the city this week. A father of four was killed near 68th and Pulaski on Tuesday night.

CPD's Major Accident detectives are investigating Thursday night's crash.
